We have been looking for a solution to the mining industry’s global downward slide since October 2008.

I have been on a mission during the past months reading new theories, talking to experts, listening to our SAMSSA members and "googling" every day, desperately trying to find one consistent remedy that would provide some relief for mining suppliers, especially in our sector in Northern Ontario.

Survey of Mining Companies 2008/2009

TORONTO, ON — Thursday February 26th

The global economic slowdown has cast a pall over the mining industry with the vast majority of mining executives saying they expect a severe pull back in exploration activity and at least 30 per cent of exploration companies going out of business, according to the Survey of Mining Companies 2008/2009, released today by independent research organization the Fraser Institute.

Budget Has Some Goodies For Mining Industry

The mining sector, like many businesses, will get some benefit from the federal budget, said Dick DeStefano, executive director of the local mining cluster of companies, SAMSSA.

A First Rate Training Partnership in the Mining Sector

Sudbury – Collège Boréal and MacLean Engineering today announced a partnership aimed at developing a programme of continuing education and training mostly geared to the needs of mining engineers. Denis Hubert, President of Collège Boréal, and Allan Gibson, Senior Vice-President, Product Support at MacLean Engineering, were joined by representatives from the mining industry such as SAMSSA (Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association).
